Job Description
Pathology Specialist Supervisor in the Cytogenetics Department
The chief objective of this position and age group(s) to be served (if applicable)
The Pathology Specialist Supervisor provides accurate and timely testing and results to requesting physicians and other health care professionals for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. The Supervisor should consistently utilize excellent customer service skills to both internal and external customers at all times. A positive and professional interpersonal style with a strong commitment to the team effort is mandatory.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire
One of the following is required:
Certified as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); or
CLS by the National Credentialing Agency (NCA); or
Equivalent ASCP categorical certification or equivalent certification - (NOTE: this position requires CG (ASCP) certification).
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment including
CPR, etc.
MT or MLS certification by ASCP; or
CLS by NCA; or
Equivalent ASCP categorical certification or equivalent certification (NOTE: this position requires CG (ASCP) certification
Level and type of experience REQUIRED
Minimum of four (4) years of clinical work experience as a technologist with at least three (3) years in a leadership role (senior/lead level with increased responsibility)
Education/training REQUIRED
Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology (BSCLS) or Biological Science from an accredited program
Education/training PREFERRED
Masters Degree in Clinical Lab Science (MSCLS) from an accredited program
