Northrop Grumman Information Systems sector is seeking a Network Engineer 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse team of individuals. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Virginia Information Technology Agency (VITA) Program, which is a 13 year, $2.3B program, responsible for providing end-to-end IT Infrastructure to the Commonwealth of Virginia. This position will be located in Chester, VA. Shift: M-F (8:30AM-5:30PM). This individual will provide maintenance and support for the Commonwealth of Virginia Network Infrastructure. Must be able to designs and plan network communications systems. Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provide specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implement techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. The selected candidate will conduct testing of network design and maintain technical expertise in all areas of network hardware and software, such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancer, wireless controllers, etc. In addition the ideal candidate must be able to evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network. Primary focus will be supporting the VITA Data Network infrastructure. Responsibilities include the following but not limited to: Plan, evaluate, and coordinate installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and voice communication network. Perform complex troubleshooting of routing and switching platforms and demonstrate strong problem analysis and resolution skills. Maintain technical expertise in all areas of LAN/ WAN networking such as routers, switching, VoIP and underlying protocols. Propose solutions to management to ensure all data communications requirements based on current and future needs are meet. Draft appropriate network support documentation including operational instructions, network diagrams, and procedures. Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short and long range planning for in-house systems. Coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment. Develop the network design or portion of the network that includes selection of hardware and software packages. Troubleshoot and resolve network and VoIP related issues as assigned. Follow ITIL standard process to manage incident and problem management tickets. Follow change management procedures. Perform root cause analysis on critical incidents. Coordinate and implement configuration changes to the Data/VoIP infrastructure for incident resolution. Maintain and update network documentation, procedures, and processes on a regular basis.
